Borough Planning Commission to Review Sign Ordinance

Borough Council asked the Planning Commission to look at the rules governing signage after local business owners suggested they'd like to be able to use a-frame signs.

Borough businesses owners say relaxed laws governing signs may help them attract more customers.

And Borough Council is listening to that feedback.

On Tuesday, Council directed the borough’s Planning Commission to review the signage ordinance after receiving the feedback during a meeting last week with local business owners.

, several business owners said they would like to be able to use a-frame signs, which are currently prohibited by borough code.

Council President Julia Woldorf recommended that the Planning Commission begin review of the signage ordinance and invite members of the business community to participate in the process. Members of Council concurred.

Woldorf said the Planning Commission would then send its suggestions back to Council.

“The business people have been responding,” Woldorf said, adding that the borough will keep shop owners informed about when the Planning Commission is scheduled to discuss the signage ordinance.
