Borough Republicans Select Bob King for November Ticket

King will replace Tony Blancato, who withdrew from the race for Borough Council last month.

Bob King has been selected to replace Tony Blancato on the Republican ticket for Newtown Borough Council.

King is a former Council member who was defeated in 2007.

Paul Salvatore, head of the Newtown Area Republican Committee, said King is out of town but will be laying out his platform upon return later this month.

Blancato withdrew from the race last month after citing "a new opportunity" that will preclude him from holding a political position.

King will join Paul Salvatore and Larry Auerweck on the Republican ticket.

The Republicans face three incumbents: Council President Julia Woldorf, Mike Sellers, and Gerard O'Malley. They are all Democrats first elected in 2007.
