Bucks County Preparing for Political Limelight

Mitt Romney will hold a rally at Shady Brook Farm Sunday, just two days before the presidential election.

Bucks County is preparing to be in the political limelight just two days before the presidential election.

Mitt Romney announced Thursday that he will hold a rally at Shady Brook Farm in Lower Makefield Township. It’s the latest indication that Romney believes he has a shot to win Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes on Nov. 6.

Shady Brook Farm General Manager Dave Fleming said the whole thing happened “very quickly.” He said the Romney campaign approached him two days ago inquiring if the farm would be available for a rally.  Fleming agreed and Shady Brook was added to a list of six locations being considered for the Philadelphia-area rally.

Fleming said he first found out Shady Brook Farm was selected as the preferred location through published media reports Thursday night, including this one on Patch.

“I think it’s very exciting,” Fleming said. “It’s amazing that Pennsylvania is in the spotlight this late in the election.”

The rally will start at 5:30 p.m. in the field where the annual carnival is held. The field borders the Newtown Bypass and Stony Hill Road. Fleming said the Romney campaign expects between 10,000 and 15,000 attendees at the rally. Click here to reserve tickets.

The Romney campaign is paying to rent the space, Fleming confirmed, adding the rally is not intended to be a political endorsement. He said Shady Brook as a business is remaining politically neutral in the race.

In fact, the Obama campaign approached Shady Brook two weeks ago inquiring about using the farm as a rally location, Fleming said. But nothing came of that inquiry.

“From our standpoint, it’s all or nothing. Everyone is welcome or no one is welcome,” he said, adding the farm has hosted events for candidates of both political affiliations. “I think it’s important to offer all sides an opportunity to get their viewpoint out."

Secret Service agents and campaign event organizers have been at the farm since Thursday morning scoping out the location, Fleming said. He added the farm store will be closed to the public at some point Sunday but exact hours of business for that day have not yet been determined.

Shady Brook Farm is at located 931 Stony Hill Road, Yardley. (Use Morrisville in your GPS.)

Freedom of speech includes protests. If you are a Romney supporter you should question that CEO wisdom holding a rally in a state, which doesn't have a prayer of going red. Wasted money and wasted energy the Cult Leader could be spending in a state he still has a chance to win, like North Carolina.

I am sincerely disappointed at the incredibly insensitive and negative responses people have posted in response to a simple question about protesting. Rather than engage in genuine political discourse and asking intelligent questions (e.g. "Hank, why do you want to protest?"), people - who should be educated beyond the 5th-8th grade level - stoop to 3rd grade bullying techniques. What on EARTH does someone's name have to do with anything? I see how the right-wing conservative media personalities treat their colleagues on the other side, and can't help but wonder if these people are serving as role models for behavior. I would respectfully ask what the local residents posting to this board see how a Romney Administration would help them - presuming they are earning less than $250,000 per year. If you are earning more than that, I already understand - you want to keep your money. But the rest of you...? How do people develop an opinion agains their own self interest?

Well said, Andrew!

Romney definitely understands freedom of speech, he makes up whatever the heck he wants to say even when they are flat out proven lies. But he knows he can flip flop all he wants because his sheep will listen to whatever he says and believe it because they are to lazy to check the facts. Amazes me people can support someone that has mention plans that will flat out screw them, mentions other plans that are mathematically impossible, believes he understands what hurricane victims are going through because he once helped when he was younger a group clean up after a football game, campaigns during the hurricane, and the latest of his web of lies....just randomly saying Jeep is moving to China when even the company is like WTF no we arent?! Romney is a car salesman will say whatever just to make money and doesn't care who gets screwed in the end as long as its not him...as seen with the way he ran his companies into the ground costing many their jobs while he sat there rolling in money . Sad that people support someone so inhumane.

Really? Your trying to pick on someone with a normal name like Hank...when your going by the initials for Toilet paper...seriously -------------------------------------- TP 9:21 pm on Friday, November 2, 2012 who names a kid "Hank" anyhow?

Hi all. Everyone has the right to speak and the right to protest---the right to free speech is not limited to those that agree with you, so although I cannot image who would vote for Romney, he has the absolute right to speak, as well as those that wish to protest....I would anticipate alot of protest signs, which are equally protected asking about -- FEMA- Romney wants to eliminate FEMA--vote how you feel --Equal Pay Act---Romney opposes---vote how you feel --Healthy Families Act- Romney opposes--vote how you feel --Detroit--Romney wanted to let go bankrupt--vote how you feel --Roe v Wade- Romney wants to abolish--vote how you feel --Ignore 47% of US--Romney's Position-which percent are you how you feel??--vote how you feel --Top 1% tax cuts-Romney's position--vote how you feel --Different positions in 2008, 2012 Republican Primaries, Summer 2012 and then the Debates--Romneys Words-who can you trust--vote how you feel

Ken what mess did Bush get us into? Wasn't Obama and Biden US Senators in the majority party in 2007 and 2008 along with Reid and Pelosi? Please specifically tell us what Bush could do that congress didn't authorize....the Democrat controlled Congress. It is the biggest lie of all. Time to show where Bush had such special powers!!! And by the way, all of my family in NY and NJ are in very bad shape. FEMA has done a horrific job. The rest of your list is a bunch of lies Here's another stat for you. There were 8.2 million job losses and 5.7 million new jobs over the past 4 years...look it up. That's a loss of 2.5 million net.
Colter95 November 03, 2012 at 05:37 PM
Or Ohio, Virginia, Florida, New Hampshire, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Iowa... Fact is, the polls show it's getting tighter every day in PA, and will continue to do so all the way through Tuesday... The good people of PA are tired of being taken for granted by Obama, are tired of a horrible economy and no jobs, and the lies on Benghazi... It all points to a Romney victory on Tuesday...
Colter95 November 03, 2012 at 05:37 PM
I saw Obama yesterday claiming the new job numbers are proof that his policies are working and that we are in an economic recovery... Fact is, that is not the truth, or even close to the truth... First, the unemployment rate ticked up to 7.9% and the year-to-date monthly average of 157,000 payroll jobs is barely enough to keep up with population growth -- much less make up for the 8 million jobs lost during the Great Recession. Second, the so-called real unemployment rate (U6) remains elevated at 14.6%, albeit down from 14.7% the prior month. Similarly, the labor participation rate is at 63.8%, up from its multi-decade low but still incredibly weak. Third, average hourly earnings fell a penny in October and average hours worked fell to 34.4 from 34.5 in September. Stagnant wages means "we're not generating income," Reinhart says. "That's a problem in terms of the durability of an economic expansion, which is usually fueled by consumption. To get consumption you've got to generate income." Also, just look at your checkbook. We are paying a lot more for everything now than we did in 2008. The price of gas has doubled. At the same time, wages have gone down, and that's if you're lucky to have a job. In 2008, 25 banks went out of business. In 2012, 48 banks have gone out of business. Almost double the amount. Does that sound like recovery to you? Don't believe the Obama lies!! Romney/Ryan 2012

Please don't let Obama sweep Benghazi under the rug... Lets not forget those four who were left to be slaughtered in Benghazi... Every voter needs to read this excellent article... Very well worth your time... http://spectator.org/archives/2012/11/01/benghazi-obamas-core-deceit/ These are pretty good as well: http://www.gazette.com/opinion/romney-146793-obama-benghazi.html http://frontpagemag.com/2012/dgreenfield/benghazigate-obamas-many-lies-about-libya/ http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/50657 http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/10/25/CBS-Busts-Obama--and-Itself-Hidden-60-Minutes-Clip-Proves-White-House-Lied-About-Benghazi Romney/Ryan 2012

Colter liberals live on another mathematical planet. We have trillion dollar budget deficits and owe the world $20 trillion. We cannot balance the budget, have 25 million unemployed, wages down, healthcare costs up, food costs up and somehow they just wink and nod and say who cares....Blame Bush......god forbid they ever blamed themselves for the votes to spend and borrow all this money. Was Bush raising the debt ceiling or was Congress? Yeah, this goes for R's too but at least I am honest. Obama was a part of the problem while in the Senate, an even bigger part as fake president and wants to make it all worse. This coming from the man who promised to cut the deficit and said Bush was unpatriotic and irresponsible How can that be? If Bush was, that makes Obama a debt criminal!!! http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/08/24/flashback_obama_adding_4_trillion_to_debt_is_unpatriotic.html Hmmmmm........didn't the debt grow under Obama? I guess he told us the truth though. LOL!
JA Logan November 03, 2012 at 07:16 PM
DUDE! Did you even proof read your comment? Don't protest (freedom of speech), and let freedom of speech take place unbound!? You just showed how twisted and stupid your POV is.
Goofy November 03, 2012 at 07:19 PM
nope
JA Logan November 03, 2012 at 07:24 PM
All of you seem to look at the same suit, one single breasted, one double breasted, Obama and Romney are closer to being the same evil. GARY JOHNSON 2012 Bring our troops home, we are not the world's police force. Restructure the tax system to eliminate the IRS and decrease our deficit by fair taxation. Choice is a personal choice, not someone else's, period. Reduce the deficit by ending the fabricated war on drugs. Original Republican ideals, not Tea Party double talk.
Isabelle Mauvaise November 03, 2012 at 08:30 PM
I so wish I could be there so I could protest everything that comes out of his lying mouth. And lay my rape-conceived baby at his feet.
Ken November 03, 2012 at 08:42 PM
All please express your opinion at the voting booth and stop bad mouthing other people's opinions....the voting booth is the only place it counts...it's clear no-one responding on this blog is changing anyone's opinion, and all you are doing is creating a divide for whoever leads US going forward....whoever wins, we will be in it together.
Ken November 03, 2012 at 08:49 PM
Thanks shady brook for being open for dialogue....Obama was planning to spend time in bucks, but his first priority to the crisis on the east coast meant service over politics...personally, I wish he would have come as he would have made Romney rally look small in comparison, but I respect his commitment to those who need him and his help most...thanks for being presidential, thanks for being a leader for all of US.
Obama failed November 03, 2012 at 09:28 PM
Thanks Obama for giving my kids another 50k each of new debt. You da man!!!
Teri November 03, 2012 at 11:55 PM
4 dead American's you haven't explained~thanks Obama!!!!
Teri November 04, 2012 at 12:08 AM
They said the screams for help from the American's in Benghazi are horrific. There are tapes, but Obama will not let them be released until after election. So bad that Ty Woods disobeyed the "stand down" orders to go help them. TY WOODS IS A TRUE HERO! Obama hid!! Still is! Coward!! The blood of those Americans are on Obama's hands. Why wont Obama explain. Why are we not demanding to know?
Teri November 04, 2012 at 12:15 AM
I'm sorry you had to go through that. In my heart I am. I will pray for you and that innocent little baby that did nothing wrong.

Looking forward to seeing the man who literally saved my husbands career in Mass. from false accusations by someone out to make a buck at my husbands hard earned expense. My children -including 2 adopted born to pedophiles that we adopted through social services now have a loving family to call their own thanks to Mitt Romney!!!! The Democrats I contacted and met with did nothing - they are on the side of those freeloaders the state breeds through too much entitlement -their primary voting base. I am a proud conservative -and I am grateful to have built something that enables me to help others less fortunate. GO MITT!!

It's scary to know that there are folks who, when I ask what they think about Benghazi, they say "Who is he"? We have the MSM to thank for that.

I have to wonder what any Romney voters are thinking. Who knows Romney better than anybody? How about the state who actually voted him in before, as Governor. So let's take a moment to look at how the only state who has any working knowledge about how Romney governs, is voting... http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/ma/massachusetts_romney_vs_obama-1804.html The average of all polls, whether you believe some to be conservative or liberal leaning, still gives Obama a 20+ point lead. So my question is, why aren't more people paying attention to this? You can't shrug it off that it is MA and they always lean this way, because they voted Romney himself in as a Republican. The reality is that Romney can't even get close in this election in the only state that he has governed before, where the people actually know what you get if you vote for Romney. If he was the success that he pretends to be in MA, don't you think that he would be leading in MA or at the very least, have a close race going on there?
