Corbett Agrees to Discuss Medical Marijuana With Advocates

Governor Tom Corbett has agreed to meet with families regarding the legalization of medical marijuana.

According to PoliticsPa.com, Corbett on Thursday said he was meeting with the families and would propose a plan for the legalization of medical cannabis in Pennsylvania.

Corbett’s willingness to meet comes days after the families in support of medical marijuana announced they were planning a “sit-in” in the governor’s office until he agreed to meet with them.

“According to press reports, Governor Corbett has begun to move away from his previously unyielding position on cannabis based medicine for sick children,” said State Senator Daylin Leach, who organized the press event and is a sponsor of The Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Act.

“It is of course important to make sure that the law is not only clear, but also inclusive enough to ensure the widest possible access to medicine for all,” Leach said. 

The Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Act, which would legalize the use of medical marijuana by patients as recommended by attending physicians.  The bill has 13 co-sponsors.
