Corbett Reports $23K Worth of Travel and Gifts

Corbett reported receiving a $13,500 trip to Brazil, a $175 framed U.S. Open flag, $850 worth of sporting event tickets and a $150 pair of sneakers.

Governor Tom Corbett reported more than $23,000 worth of travel and gifts in his annual statements of financial interest for 2013, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Among the items Corbett reported are a $13,500 trip to Brazil, a $175 framed U.S. Open flag from the Merion Golf Club, $850 worth of sporting event tickets, a $150 pair of sneakers and $920 in meals from the Republican Governors Association, the Inquirer reported.

Public officials can accept gifts, meals and lodging as long as they disclose what they receive in annual statements.

According to the Inquirer, some area legislators reported no gifts or travel, including Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi (R., Delaware), Rep. Bill Adolph (R., Delaware), Sen. Chuck McIlhinney (R., Bucks), Rep. Kate Harper (R., Montgomery), Rep. Margo Davidson (D., Delaware), Rep. Michael H. O'Brien (D., Phila.) and Rep. Rosita Youngblood (D., Phila.).

Not a fan at all. Retired teachers need raises? yet we wonder why schools have to layoff and cut just to stay afloat. The 23k certainly didn't do it. Perhaps the legacy burdens or was it the Air Jordans he got as a gift? The point is ALL politicians do it and party lines make no difference.

Is the photo with this story implying that Corbett's spending is a small gift from the Pa. taxpayers? The gifts that the frackers gave him are to large to wrap.

an honest editor would follow this "gift giving/receiving", with the facts. like how do these gifts compare with our previous governors.. are they legal or illegal, state the facts.. pennsylvania laws are a joke when it comes to "gifts". lets get on with the illegal gifts story that our suspect, attorney general , is trying to block by intervention and false stements about the recipients of the bribes and gifts to democrats. where are those editors.. good luck to governor corbett c.d.h.

That's the reported number.... His meals alone in Brazil exceeded $13,500.00... What a creep this guy is and how, how did he ever become the Governer of a state with principally blue collar workers? Who were the dummies that voted for this guy? Our bridges are falling apart, our schools are falling apart and our teachers are underpaid. Our states infrastructure is crumbling yet this guy and his cronies see fit to give our Naatural resources and forests over to oil/gas companies with a free ride to rape pillage and plunder and contaminate our water supplies. Time to tax the "frackers"... Opps did I mispell that, I guess not... Any Governer who blatantly supports the envisceration of millions of voters by making it more difficult to vote is not on the peoples side but on the side of the wealthy and powerful who's only incentive is to keep the masses in check by limiting their influence. This state belongs to "we the people" not a crew of self indulgent rich who care nothing about anyone or anything except their wallets and their skins.. One man one vote, the equalizer, let's vote to keep it that way...
