Corner Bakery Cafe Headed to Zoning Hearing Board

But the township Board of Supervisors will not oppose the application for signage and impervious surface variances.

The Corner Bakery Café, a casual dining spot that is opening at the old Blockbuster Video on West Road, came before the Newtown Township Supervisors Wednesday to discuss variances it intends to seek from the township’s Zoning Hearing Board.

The township supervisors decided it won’t oppose the cafe's request for impervious surface and signage relief when it comes before the Zoning Hearing Board.

The Corner Bakery Café is seeking relief from impervious surface requirements to construct a 529-square-foot patio as well as sidewalks to connect to the adjacent property in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center.

The variance request for signage initially sought an internally-lit sign facing the Newtown Bypass, however after discussion with the supervisors, the applicant agreed that sign could be lit from the exterior with gooseneck bulbs instead.
