Democrats Announce Candidates for Township Supervisors

The Newtown Democrats have endorsed Judy Norkin and Jen Dix for the two seats on the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors.

Democrats Judy Norkin and Jen Dix today announced their candidacy for the two seats on the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors that will be on the ballot in November.

Norkin and Dix have both been endorsed by the Newtown Democrats, which met Wednesday to discuss its support of local candidates. 

Dix is a 20-year resident of Newtown Township who lives in Wiltshire Walk. “She has been a community advocate for many years,” a press release from the Newtown Democrats said.

She is self-employed as a consulting actuary in the health insurance industry and has a background in finance and risk management. She served on the Township’s Financial Planning Committee in 2006-2007. 

Dix is married with two children. According to the press release, she and her family are members of Grace Point Church, where she serves as treasurer. She has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Messiah College.

Norkin is a 16-year resident of Newtown Township and lives in Cliveden Estates with her husband and two children.  She is a former member of the Newtown Township Traffic Committee.

Norkin has been a board member of the Cliveden Homeowners’ Association for more than 10 years. She works as a freelance writer and editor and is studying for her masters in Community and Regional Planning at Temple University. Norkin earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from New York University. 

The two seats on the five-member Board of Supervisors that are up for election are currently held by Mike Gallagher and Rob Ciervo. Gallagher is running for re-election; Ciervo is not. The local Republican Committee endorsed the incumbent and resident Kyle Davis for the seats.
