First Fourth Committee To Present Donations Wednesday

The First Fourth Committee will be presenting $250 to the township police to put towards the D.A.R.E. program and $600 to the Civil Air Patrol, which helped with parking at last month's event.

The organizers of the First Fourth parade, which was held last month in Newtown Township, are expected to present $850 to two area organizations at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Wednesday.

The First Fourth Committee will be presenting $250 to the township police to put towards the D.A.R.E. program and $600 to the Civil Air Patrol, which helped with parking.

Joe Gordon, chairman of the committee, said D.A.R.E. was selected due to the funding cuts the program has experienced recently on the state level.

The First Fourth event featured a parade, block party and fireworks. The $5 fee to park at the fireworks went to support event costs as well as the two organizations.

The Board of Supervisors will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the township Administration Building.
