Gallagher Reappointed as Supervisors Chairman

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors held its annual reorganization meeting Monday.

Republican Mike Gallagher was reappointed as chairman of the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors during a reorganization meeting Monday.

Gallagher, who was reelected in November, was sworn in at the start of the meeting. Newcomer Democrat Jennifer Dix, who was elected in November, was also sworn in to the five-member board.

Gallagher was reappointed as chairman by a 3-2, party line vote. Democrats Dix and Philip Calabro voted against his appointment as chairman.

Republican Ryan Gallagher, who is not related to Mike Gallagher, was appointed as the board vice chairman. That vote was also 3-2, with Dix and Calabro dissenting.

The next regular meeting of the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors is Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
