Legalizing Internet Gambling Could Mean Millions for PA, New Report Says

Legalizing internet gambling in Pennsylvania could generate as much as $110 million annually, a new report suggests.

A report released Wednesday by by the General Assembly's Legislative Budget and Finance Committee says legalizing internet gambling could produce up to $68 million in tax revenue the first year alone, according to a story on Philly.com.

The report, prepared by Econsult Solutions Inc., of Philadelphia, states internet gambling could generate as much as $110 million annually without jeopardizing the success of the state’s casino industry, Philly.com reported. 

Internet gambling is currently illegal but not punishable in Pennsylvania.

The report also outlined ways to make the casinos in Pennsylvania more competitive with those in nearby states. Suggestions in the report include allowing credit card cash advances on the casino floor and eliminating the $2,500 ceiling on check cashing in casinos, Philly.com reported.
