'Light' Turnout in the Primary Election

Poll workers report light turnout in Newtown. As of 9 p.m. results were unavailable.

A rainy day didn't help the turnout for today's primary election.

Election workers at Goodnoe Elementary School and throughout the region reported a low turnout. "It's been light," said poll worker Christina Nelson of Newtown Borough.

At 5:30 p.m., poll workers and candidates outnumbered voters at the Goodnoe Elementary School polling place. Every few minutes, a voter would trickle in and was greeted by a half dozen people working the polls or handing out literature.
