Gallagher, who is the current Board of Supervisors Chairman, said he and his running mate will “protect Newtown taxpayers and our unique quality of life by bringing our financial experience, our passion and our tech-savvy to local government.”

In a speech to the Republican committee during its endorsement process, Gallagher told members he was most proud of reducing property taxes while still providing excellent services to area residents over the last five years.

“Newtown property taxes have been reduced five percent since Gallagher joined the Board of Supervisors despite challenging economic times,” according to a press release distributed by the Republican committee.

“The Supervisors have eliminated eyesores like the old ACME building and helped spark economic growth to help create local jobs all while improving communications with residents,” the release said.

Gallagher is a small businessman and software engineer with experience leading and managing teams, operating with budgets and implementing cost-saving techniques in his own business and for clients.  As supervisors chairman, he’s managed a $15 million budget and directed more than 60 staff and contract professionals.

Davis is seeking to replace Rob Ciervo on the Board of Supervisors after Ciervo’s retirement from the Board.  “Davis is a successful businessman and current Chairman of the Newtown Township Technology Committee, where he helps identify new technologies that can save tax dollars,” the release said.

“A father, husband, Council Rock graduate, and former Army reservist, Davis plans to bring his experience balancing workplace budgets, overseeing complex contracts and managing employees to help protect area taxpayers,” the release said.

“Every day we hear voters say government can do more with less,” Davis said.  “Our local Board of Supervisors has proven it’s possible.  I want to bring my professional experience to this team so we can continue that legacy for taxpayers well into the future.”

Gallagher and Davis are running against Democrats Judy Norkin and Jen Dix.
