Matt Benchener Resigns from Newtown Township Board of Supervisors

Benchener, whose term expires at the end of 2015, will resign effective Feb. 1.

Matt Benchener has announced he will resign from the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors. 

He made the announcement during a meeting Wednesday night, according to an article posted on BucksLocalNews.com. The article states his resignation is effective Feb. 1.

Benchener, whose term expires at the end of 2015, cited increased work responsibilities and a desire to spend time with family as the reason for his departure from the board, according to BucksLocalNews.com.

Benchener was elected in 2009 at the age of 23. A native of Upper Makefield, Benchener moved to Newtown with his wife Amy in 2008.

Residents who are interested in filling the seat on the Board of Supervisors will have the chance to submit resumes.
