Movies in the Park Begins, Dunkin' Donuts Hearing Postponed: Week Ahead

This week in Newtown, Movies in the Park returns and the Newtown Township supervisors meet.

Here are five things you should know about the week ahead in Newtown:

1. A township hearing on a proposal for townhomes at the Newtown Swim Club property that was scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed until July 24. Click here for details. The Board of Supervisors will still meet as scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

2. Movies in the Park, the Borough's free outdoor movie series, returns Wednesday with a screening of "The 'Burbs" at Linton Memorial Park. Music from local bands starts at 8 p.m; the movie starts at 8:30 p.m. The event is free.

3. A hearing for a proposed Dunkin' Donuts in Washington Crossing that was scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed. The Upper Makefield Zoning Hearing Board was scheduled to review the application seeking variances for a convenience store and Dunkin’ Donuts at 1240 General Washington Memorial Blvd (Route 532). However, that hearing has been postponed because the Upper Makefield Supervisors have requested the applicant seeking the variances file a continuance. Click here for more details. 

4. Performances of "The Odd Couple" by the Newtown Arts Company continue Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Newtown Theatre. Click here for details. 

5. A Newtown Athletic Club spokeswoman said last week they expect the new outdoor pool complex to open sometime this week. Click here for details
