New Council Member To Be Sworn In Tonight
Charles Machion will replace Gerard O'Malley, who resigned from Newtown Borough Council last month.
Charles Machion will be sworn in as the newest member of Newtown Borough Council at a meeting tonight. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Chancellor Center.
Machion, a State Street resident and attorney, is replacing Gerard O’Malley, .

Machion was selected unanimously by Borough Council during a work session meeting last week.
A borough resident since 2000, Machion is an attorney employed by the Advertising Specialty Institute in Trevose.

“My family and I love the borough,” Machion said. “Its sense of history and community make it a unique place to live.”
Machion is married with three children. He is on the Board of Directors for Villa Victoria, a private school in Ewing, N.J., and a basketball coach for in Newtown.
Interviews for the seat were conducted publicly last week. Resident Michael Miller was also interviewed. Resident Paul Salvatore, who ran for council in November, had submitted his resume for consideration but pulled his application prior to the interview.
