State Rep. Pushes for New Military License Plate

State Rep. Steve Santarsiero wants Pennsylvania to make a special plate for antique military vehicles.

Newtown’s state representative is pushing for legislation that would establish special license plates for antique military vehicles.

State Rep. Steve Santarsiero, D-Bucks, this week introduced a bill that would permit the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to issue a special plate for antique military vehicles. The plate would be an olive drab color, an easily recognized military color.

Santarsiero said he sponsored House Bill 1834 because antique military vehicles are built and designed to serve a specific purpose that is “vastly different from other antique vehicles.”

A unique antique military license plate would afford collectors and restorers of antique military vehicles the opportunity for distinct recognition, Santarsiero said in a statement.

“The collection and restoration of antique military vehicles provides our communities a unique opportunity to display and share the history of military vehicles,” he said. “Functioning and working antique military vehicles are living pieces of history, not a picture or museum relic, and serve to remember and honor the sacrifices of military veterans, whose service to our country protect our freedoms.”
