Steeple View Plans to Come Before Borough Council Tuesday

The Newtown Borough Council on Tuesday will review plans for Steeple View, a mixed-use project at South State and Penn streets.

Newtown Borough Council on Tuesday is expected to weigh in on plans for a mixed-use development on South State Street.

The project, called Steeple View, last week received final approval from the Borough's Planning Commission. The Newtown Advance reported that Borough Council will likely vote on the plans at its upcoming meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Chancellor Center.

The Steeple View project features a three-story, mixed-use building that will likely feature the state wine and spirits store on the ground level and residential units above.

Developer Allan Smith, who owns the current state store property on Centre Avenue, is seeking to relocate the store to a building on South State Street. Smith said a lease has been signed for the new State Store and has been submitted to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.

But according to the Newtown Advance, Smith has not heard back from the PLCB regarding that lease.
