Stormwater, FEMA Maps on Borough Council Agenda

The Borough Council will hold a work session Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Newtown Borough Council will hold a work session 7 p.m. Wednesday at Council Chambers. The agenda includes discussion of the Comprehensive Plan, stormwater management issues, and an update on the new FEMA flood maps.

The meeting will begin with a banner request by the Traffic Committee. Then Keith Terry of the Council Rock Athletic Association will be present to discuss a proposal for a flower garden and wall at Pickering Field.  Tzedek v’Shalom will then seek approval for a temporary sign.

Alice Lambert of the Bucks County Planning Commission will be on hand to give a presentation about stormwater management. That presentation will be followed by the engineer’s report, which will address a new stormwater management ordinance, as well an update on FEMA meetings regarding new floodplain maps.

FEMA has been working to update the region’s flood maps, which determine flood insurance requirements and rates. As part of the process, FEMA is expected to hold three community meetings in Bucks County.

The borough solicitor will provide a report. He is expected to suggest authorizing Zoning Officer Jo-Anne Brown to attend the Temperance House hearing in front on the borough's Zoning Hearing Board.

At Wednesday’s work session, the Council is also expected to discuss implementation of the Comprehensive Plan and the Cool Cities initiative.
