Swim Club Development Review Delayed Again

A hearing for a townhome proposal at the Newtown Swim Club will be held August 28 instead of July 24.

The township hearing on a proposal for townhomes at the Newtown Swim Club property has been postponed again.

The hearing, initially scheduled for June and then delayed until July, has been postponed until Aug. 28, according to information on the township's website.

"The PRD Hearing for the Newtown Swim Club Townhome project will not be heard at the July 24, 2013 Board of Supervisors Meeting and it will be scheduled for the Board of Supervisors meeting of August 28, 2013. Please check the website and meeting agendas for more information and updates.” the township announced on its website.

Fifty six townhouses are proposed for the Newtown Swim Club property once it closes after this summer. The developer, County Builders, had previously filed an application for a 56-pad trailer park.

However, the trailer park proposal was met with an uproar of dissent from neighboring residents, who said such a development would jeopardize property values in the Headley, Wiltshire Walk and Raintree communities, among others.

In response to the residents’ concerns, the township supervisors in April agreed to a series of parameters set forth by County Builders to construct townhomes instead of a mobile home park on property.
