Swim Club Townhomes, 2014 Budget on Wednesday Supervisors Agenda

In September, the supervisors gave tentative approval to a proposal for a 56-unit townhome development at the 16.5-acre site on Newtown Yardley Road.

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors on Wednesday will consider a written decision related to a proposed townhome development at the Newtown Swim Club. The meeting begins at 7:30 at the township municipal building.

In September, the supervisors gave tentative approval to a proposal for a 56-unit townhome development at the 16.5-acre site on Newtown Yardley Road.

The property is zoned for single-family housing and requires a variance to construct higher density townhomes.

County Builders has an agreement with Swim Club owner David Platt to develop the site now that the club has closed.

Wednesday’s agenda also includes an update from the township manager regarding the budget timeline.

Last week, Township Manager Kurt Ferguson presented a draft that would keep the township's tax rate at 2.5 mills. The draft included $11.43 million in expenditures and keeps staffing at current levels.

Supervisors Chair Mike Gallagher said the budget would continue to be discussed at upcoming meetings.
