Sycamore Street Speed Limit to be Discussed Tonight

The township's traffic committee is expected to recommend the speed limit on Sycamore Street be reduced to 25 miles per hour.

 

The speed limit on Sycamore Street will be the topic of conversation at tonight’s Newtown Township Board of Supervisors work session meeting.

The meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Administration Building, will include a presentation from Tim Szwedo of the township traffic committee.

Szwedo is expected to discuss a recommendation to reduce the speed limit on Sycamore Street from 35 to 25 miles per hour. 

The Sycamore Street Community Association, a group made up of Sycamore Street businesses and residents, announced it is opposed to the speed limit change.

“A reduction in the speed limit will result in a reduction of traffic for which our town center commercial corridor relies upon. Reduction of traffic will result in a reduction in business patronage and the closing of businesses on Sycamore Street,” the association announced in a Facebook post Friday.
