BREAKING: Corbett Finally Signs Budget

Thursday Meeting Will Discuss Poole's Corner Project

The public is invited to find out what PennDOT plans to do to the intersection of routes 202 and 313, otherwise known as Poole's Corner.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Thursday, Nov. 29 to update the community on the Route 202 (Poole’s Corner) intersection improvement project in Doylestown Borough, Doylestown and Buckingham townships, Bucks County.

The public meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Doylestown Township Building, 425 Wells Road, Doylestown.

Staff from PennDOT and its design team will be present to provide an overview of the project and address questions and concerns.

The proposed project calls for:

  • realigning the intersection of State Street and Route 202 to create a T-intersection
  • widenening the intersection of Route 313 (Swamp Road) and Route 202 to provide left and right turn lanes;
  • widenening Route 202 between Route 313 (Swamp Road) and Mechanicsville Road to provide shoulders.

The project is currently in final design and is expected to start construction in fall 2013 and finish in late 2014.

Shouldn't this all have been done before the bypass opened and not after?

Really. We've had all this construction on the bypass, which is going to be marginally useful at best given the lights, one lane in each direction and low speed limit. NOW we're going to consider big construction at the endpoint of the bypass at Poole's Corner?!?!? NOW we're doing to do that. What a facepalm moment.

widening "the intersection of Route 313 (Swamp Road) and Route 202 to provide left and right turn lanes" great idea, and provide Buckingham with some incentives to modernize at the State or Federal level.
