Township Police Collect 150 Lbs of Drugs

More than 80 people took advantage of the township police's Drug Take Back event on Saturday.

About 150 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs were collected Saturday during Newtown Township Police Department's drug take back event.

The take back event, one of many nationwide that day, was "very successful," department officials said. Local police said more than 80 people dropped off unneeded medications. Five large boxes were collected.

The township participated the DEA-sponsored event to give people a safe place to discard unwanted medications.
