Township Expected to Appoint Police Chief As Temporary Manager

The board expects to hire a replacement for outgoing manager Joe Czajkowski by June 1, chairman Mike Gallagher said.

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors are expected to appoint Police Chief Rick Pasqualini as the temporary township manager until a replacement is selected for outgoing manager Joe Czajkowski, supervisors Chairman Mike Gallagher said.

Gallagher said the board will formerly accept Czajkowski’s resignation at its regular meeting Wednesday. He added that the board had approached Pasqualini to see if he would be willing to take on the additional duties until the replacement is found. Pasqualini accepted, Gallagher said, adding he does not expect the chief will receive additional salary for his temporary role.

Gallagher said the board has narrowed the candidates for township manager down to five finalists and hopes to have someone in the position by the beginning of June.

Czajkowski told the supervisors in February that he planned to take a job as township manager for Lower Salford Township in Montgomery County.
