Township To Present 2012 Budget Wednesday

Newtown Township will present its 2012 budget at a special Board of Supervisors meeting Wednesday. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the township building.

In 2011, Newtown Township’s tax rate was 2.5 mils -- or $94 for the average homeowner. The 2011 budget of $14.7 million kept taxes flat for residents from the year before.

According to information on the township's website, budgets are prepared by the township manager with assistance from the Finance Director and staff. The finance director is a member of the township's Financial Planning Committee, which meets on a monthly basis to review and recommend to the Board of Supervisors requests for capital purchases suggested by department supervisors.
