Officials: Water Shortage Claims are False

Newtown has plenty of drinkable water, authorities confirmed Thursday.

A rumor swirling that the township is running short on drinkable water is not true, Board of Supervisors chairman Mike Gallagher said Thursday.

"If you hear it, it’s not true," Gallagher said.

Newtown Artesian Water has an adequate supply and residents should not be alarmed, he said. 

Gallagher said the rumor seems to have come from a contractor doing post-hurricane work for some residents.
