Annual CR North Powder Puff Game Is Monday

The event is a fundraiser for the Lauren Kelsey Talbot Memorial Scholarship Fund. Talbot was a Council Rock North senior when she passed away in 2005.

Council Rock North seniors and juniors will participate in the Sixth Annual Powder Puff game Monday to raise money for the Lauren Kelsey Talbot Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Council Rock North 2007 graduates Felicia Pappas and Kelsey Dumont started the event in honor of their friend Lauren, who was a senior at North when she passed away in 2005 after a car accident.

The game will be held at 3 p.m. at Council Rock North’s stadium. The powder puff teams are comprised of senior females and junior females, who compete for the Powder Puff title.

The Lauren Kelsey Talbot Memorial Scholarship fund supports graduating seniors at Council Rock North and South who have mirrored Lauren's passion and love for friendship, community service, and for being an unsung hero in any activity or sport, explained Joanne Talbot.  To date, the memorial fund has provided more than $34,000 in scholarships.

This year, in addition to supporting local students, a scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior at the high school in Joplin, Mo., where a tornado devastated the town just a couple of weeks ago, Talbot noted.
