BCCC To Host Open Mic Event In Celebration of Women

The 11th annual Reading and Writing Women event will be held March 26 in commemoration of Women's History Month

 

will host the 11th annual Reading and Writing Women event later this month in commemoration of Women’s History Month.

The free event will be held March 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Fireside Lounge at the Rollins Center. The open microphone event is open to the public.

Women and men alike are invited to share poetry, prose or songs written by, for, or about women. Reading and Writing Women is sponsored by the college's Department of Language and Literature. 

At the top of each hour, a guest speaker will read a selection of original work. Guest speakers include prize-winning local poets and faculty.

The remainder of the event will feature student readings of striking passages from favorite and popular female authors or from their own relevant work. According to the college, the event is a lively annual celebration of women and words for all to enjoy. 

Guest speakers include the current Bucks County  and faculty member and playwright Shelli Pentimall Bookler. Faculty member Ethel Rackin will read from “The Forever Notes,” her debut collection of poetry, and faculty member Connie Goldman will discuss the importance of compassion in “Nurse's Notes.”
