Two local poets who have recently published new collections will read from their works this Sunday at Bucks County Community College.
The program begins at 2 p.m. and will feature poets Marie Kane, the 2006 Bucks County Poet Laureate, and Carolina Morales, a former BCCC student.
Kane, a Yardley resident, has recently published “Survivors in the Garden,” a collection of her recent poems.
Kane’s poetry has been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes and has appeared in various journals including Wordgathering, The Schuylkill Valley Journal, Hot Metal Press, The Meadowland Review and the Belleview Literary Review. The former high school English teacher has also won prizes from the Poetry Society of New Hampshire, Inglis House, and the Robert Frasier Poetry Contest.
Morales has recently published “Dear Monster.” The former Bucks student was a 2007 recipient of an Archie and Bertha Walker Scholarship from the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center and finalist in several prominent poetry competitions. Her previous books include “Bride of Frankenstein and Other Poems” and “In Nancy Drew’s Shadow.”
Books will be available for purchase after the poetry reading. Admission and parking are free. For more information, call 215-968-8156.
