Citizens for Education to Host Free Public Forum Wednesday

Citizens for Education invites the public to attend and discuss Council Rock-related ideas and concerns.

Council Rock's Citizens For Education will host an open public forum this Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Corner Bakery Cafe.

The group invites the public to attend and discuss Council Rock-related ideas and concerns.

Citizens for Education is not-for-profit, non-partisan organization that aims to inform the Council Rock community about educational issues while encouraging residents to participate in their children's school experience.

"The objectives of Citizens for Education are to ensure a quality education for all students of the Council Rock School District, to better inform the Council Rock community of educational issues, and to increase the involvement of the community in the decision making processes affecting the quality of education in Council Rock," the organization's website reads.

Citizens for Education has existed for 20 years and its leaders are seeking even more participation from the local residents.

Through the years, the organization has worked to make strides on a number of issues affecting the quality of education within the district, including test return policy, class size, renovations and couseling services.

To get the word out about important issues, Citizens for Education publishes a semi-annual newsletter. Members of the organization receive the newsletter in the spring and the fall.

Membership is $25 for four years or $10 for one year. Members also have voting privileges at the yearly general membership meeting.
