Council Rock Students to Spread Love From Newtown to Newtown

The Council Rock North Executive Board is organizing a teddy bear and stuffed animal drive for the children of Newtown, CT.

Council Rock North’s Student Executive Board is asking for the community’s help in its effort to reach out to residents Newtown, CT in the wake of Friday’s school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The Council Rock North Executive Board is organizing a teddy bear and stuffed animal drive for the children of Newtown, CT.  "We have one goal: spread the love from Newtown to Newtown,” said Ricki Abrams, public relations officer for the board, which organizes school-wide efforts to raise money for various charities.

“All week we will be collecting stuffed animals and of course, we are accepting donations,” Abrams said.  “We want to show that we are here, as a community, to help others in their time of need."

If you would like to donate money, checks can be made out to "Sandy Hook School Support Fund."

Currently, Newtown Middle School is working with Council Rock North on the project but the executive board hopes the whole community will get involved.

If anyone is interested in making a donation to this fund, donations will be accepted at Council Rock North and Newtown Middle School all week. There will be donation box for stuffed animals and teddy bears and a donation jar for money/checks in the front lobby of the two schools. 

An earlier version of this story said Newtown Elementary School would be involved in the project. That school is not presently involved, the prinical said.
