Devastation on the Delaware

The November meeting of the Newtown Historic Association will be held on Monday, November 14th at 8:00 PM at the Half-Moon Inn, Court St. & Centre Ave., Newtown.

 The Newtown Historic Association has invited Mary Shafer, author of the book “Devastation on the Delaware – Stories and Images of the Deadly Flood of 1955”. 

Ms. Shafer tells the stories of survivors and eyewitnesses of this devastating flood created from the rain fall of two record breaking hurricanes – Connie and Diane after a long period of drought.    Ms. Shafer was selected as a finalist in the History and Regional Non-Fiction categories of the 2011 Indie Excellence Awards.  Indie Excellence Awards are reserved for top American books published in various genres.
