Food Preservation 101

The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance, in cooperation with Newtown Township Parks & Recreation, presents “Food Preservation 101” on Wednesday, August 22, at the Newtown Township Community Room, 100 Municipal Drive, Newtown, PA 18940, 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The program fee is $8 per person. Pre-registration with Newtown Township is required: 215.968.2800, x239, class #123232.

If you’ve ever wanted to know how to safely “put up” the surplus of your home garden or local farmers’ markets – without losing the nutrition, flavor and goodness of in-season bounty – this is your opportunity to learn from the expert. Mandel Smith, Master Food Preserver with the Montgomery County Cooperative Extension, will cover pressure canning and hot-water-bath canning, freezing, and jam and jelly making.
