Food, Wine, Hot Air Balloon Rides at Annual Tyler Tasting

The 25th Annual Tasting for Tyler event, which will be held June 7, will feature food, music, a live auction and even tethered hot air balloon rides.

Bucks County Community College is gearing up for the 25th Annual Tasting for Tyler event, which will be held June 7 and will feature food, music, a live auction and even tethered hot air balloon rides.

The event, formerly known as the Tyler Tasting Party, will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. in historic Tyler Hall on BCCC’s Newtown Campus.

The fundraiser, which has become one of Bucks County’s “premiere food and wine events,” according to organizers, will feature more than 30 restaurants, wineries, caterers and bakeries. Participants will be throughout the first floor of the mansion and its formal gardens providing tastings of food and drink.

In celebration of the event’s 25th anniversary, guests will have a chance to take a tethered hot air balloon ride from 6 to 8 p.m.

The day will also feature live music and a live auction with vacation destinations, spas, restaurant gift certificates, Phillies tickets and other items. A silent auction will feature hand-crafted jewelry, gift cards, and other indulgences.

New participants this year include: Black Horse Tavern, Concerto Fusion Cuisine, Corner Bakery Café, Greenstraw Smoothies, Hamilton’s Grill Room, Irish Rover Station House, O’Neill’s Catering, Rosa Bianca, Steam Pub, the Tea Can Company and Wycombe Publick House.

The event is a fundraiser for Historic Preservation scholarships and the restoration of Tyler Hall.

Tyler Hall, the 83-year-old mansion that was home of George F. Tyler, became the cornerstone of Bucks County Community College when it opened in 1965. To date, the Tyler Tasting Party has raised more than a half-million dollars for restoration projects and scholarships, organizers said.

“Tasting for Tyler is made possible through presenting sponsor First National Bank and Trust Co. of Newtown for the 12th consecutive year and the work of a 20-person committee of volunteers. Other corporate sponsors are Comcast, Gasper Landscape Design & Construction, KCBA Architects, Newtown Rental Center, Stark & Stark, and Video Gold Productions. Free valet parking is available through a generous donation from Lawrence Lexus,” a Bucks County Community College press release said.

Tickets are $125 each; purchase five tickets and get the sixth free.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.bucks.edu/foundation, by calling the BCCC Foundation at 215-968-8224 or by e-mail at foundation@bucks.edu
