Goodnoe Renovation Project Out to Bid, District Officials Say

District Supervisor of Operational Services Doug Taylor told the Board of Education Thursday that the project has been out to bid a little less than a week.

A $13.1 million renovation project at Goodnoe Elementary School is currently out to bid, Council Rock School District officials said Thursday.

District Supervisor of Operational Services Doug Taylor told the Board of Education Thursday that the project has been out to bid a little less than a week and so far there are six bidders from each trade.

The Board on Thursday approved PlanCon Part F, which are construction documents required by the state, for the Goodnoe Elementary addition and renovation project.

"This part provides for further refinement of the architectural aspects of the project and documentation that the other state and local agency requirements have been or will be met before entering into construction documents," according to the meeting agenda.

District officials have said the Goodnoe renovation project is designed to bring the school up to current standards. The project’s architect is Schrader Group Architecture of Philadelphia.

The proposed additions and renovations include 11 new classrooms. Areas for art and music will be improved; the art classroom will get new flooring, as well as additional power outlets and storage areas, according to a project overview drafted by the architect.

The building will be air-conditioned and upgraded for handicap accessibility. New energy-efficient lighting and plumbing equipment will be installed. The flooring in the gym will be replaced with wood and new basketball backstops installed. The library will get new furnishings and finishes.

Goodnoe Elementary School is located on Frost Lane in Newtown Township.
