High School Poet Deadline Today

Know a talented teen poet?

Great high school age poets have a few hours left to try to become the next Bucks County High School Poet of the Year.

Today at 4 p.m. is the deadline for the annual contest run by Bucks County Community College.

The contest is open to Bucks County sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Contestants should submit three original poems and an entry form to Bucks County Community College Dept. of Language & Literature.

The winner receives $300, a county proclamation, and the opportunity to read at a reception.

The 2010 High School Poet of the Year was Ashley Choi, of George School. She was chosen from over 90 submissions from 20 high schools county-wide in the 23rd annual contest.

Runners up in the 2010 contest were:

second, Stina Stannik, of

third, Monique Briones, of Central Bucks South

Other top finalists were Melissa Lesh, of Central Bucks West; Alexis Sheehy, of Council Rock High School South; Cassandra da Costa, of Central Bucks East; and Emily Muro, of Central Bucks South.
