Newtown Elementary PTO Hosting Mom's 'Knight' Out

The theme of the night is "Denim and Diamonds" and organizers are encouraging moms to throw on their favorite jeans and come out for a night of fun.

Need a break from the kids and some time with the girls?

Newtown Elementary School PTO is holding a “Mom’s Knight Out” this Friday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the school. The theme of the night is “Denim and Diamonds” and organizers are encouraging moms to throw on their favorite jeans and come out for a night of fun.

The evening will feature shopping from a variety of local vendors, free chair massages, complimentary refreshments and raffles. All women from the community are welcomed to attend; you don’t need to have a student enrolled at Newtown Elementary School.

“Any woman who needs a break can come out to enjoy a night of shopping and fun,” said Maryellen Galley, a PTO member who is organizing the event.

Vendors will be selling everything from jewelry to bags, candles, hats, cosmetics and more. Party of Gold will be offering cash for gold or silver. They will be able to present a check that night, plus they will donate a portion to Newtown Elementary School PTO, Galley said.

Each vendor is donating an item to be raffled, Galley said, adding that Green Mountain Coffee has donated a Keurig coffee maker.  Amie Easterly and Mary Dwyer of Keller Williams Preferred have donated shopping bags, she added.

The list of vendors includes: Lil Ladybug Boutique; Zoe's Treasure Chest; Pampered Chef; Jennifer Dash Designs; Partylite; Invitations & More; Lia Sophia; Jac’s Urbanwear and more.

Admission is just $1 and the event benefits the cafeteria beautification project.

Anyone who purchases a ticket in advance will receive five free raffle tickets. Tickets can also be purchased the night of the event.

“We kept the ticket price low so women can spend their money on our local vendors,” Galley said, adding there are still spaces for additional vendors. In particular, they are looking for a local manicurist.

Galley said this is the first year the PTO is holding Mom's Knight Out and hopes it will become an annual event. “We decided to hold the event to give Newtown moms an event to holiday shop in one location and to support Newtown Elementary School at the same time."
