Newtown Elementary To Hold Ribbon Cutting for New Playground

The ceremony for the new kindergarten playground will be Friday, followed by the Back to School Picnic.

It will be a busy evening Friday at .

The school is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new kindergarten playground, as well as the Second Annual Garden Harvest Party and Back-to School Picnic.

The Garden Harvest Party starts at 4:30 p.m. and will take place at the school’s own organic vegetable garden, . Then, at 5:30 p.m., there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new playground.

The kindergarten playground equipment was installed over the summer. It has four big slides, features for climbing and bridges to cross, according to school PTO members. The equipment is made by Game Time and the installation was completed by Buzz Burger, Inc.

Money to construct the playground was raised by parents through various fundraising projects, including a event last spring at Rose Bank Winery.

The Back to School picnic will follow the ribbon cutting ceremony. The picnic will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Families can bring their own dinner and enjoy music from a disc jockey. Also, oWowCow will be there offering cups of ice cream for $2 each.
