School May Be Delayed Thursday Due to Heavy Rains, Flooding

The district will launch a call Thursday by 5:30 a.m. if there is a delay due to rain and flooding.

Torrential rains and widespread road closures may cause Council Rock to open late Thursday, according to a message sent out Wednesday from Superintendent Mark Klein.

In an email sent district-wide, Klein warned parents that if conditions did not improve, school would open late Thursday. Flooded and closed roads will make it difficult for buses to transport children throughout the district, Klein explained in the email.

"Please know that if weather conditions do not improve, there is a danger for a delay tomorrow. I will launch a global connect call tomorrow by 5:30 a.m. if we need to adjust the school day to allow roads to open and buses to travel safely," the email reads.

"The Council Rock web page will be updated early if we are considering a school delay. No change in the front page of the web will indicate school will open on time.  Even if we open on time, expect bus delays since many roads will be closed due to the excessive water and debris that was moved during this storm."
