Students Enjoy Visit From Phillies Radio Announcers

The event was a fundraiser for Coaches vs. Cancer, a nonprofit that works with the American Cancer Society to fight the disease

A visit from Phillies radio announcers Larry Andersen and Scott Franzke at  Newtown Middle School Thursday was a success, school officials said.

The event, which was a fundraiser for Coaches vs. Cancer, a nonprofit that works with the American Cancer Society to fight the disease, was very enjoyable, said school secretary Kit Azzaro.

"The audience enjoyed the friendly banter between Phillies Radio personalities Larry Andersen and Scott Franzke, as well as the many interesting stories they both shared," Azzaro said.

"The question and answer time was great with questions from faithful long-time fans peppered with those from our Newtown Middle schoolers which brought many a smile.  They even engaged some of the attendees with the opportunity to do their own play-by-play."

The evening ended with an autograph session for the kids.
