UPDATED: Four Council Rock Schools Still Without Power

Four district elementary schools are without power and will not open as scheduled Tuesday.

Four Council Rock elementary schools are still without power from Hurricane Irene and will not be open with the rest of the district Tuesday.

Wrightstown Elementary School, Sol Feinstone Elementary School, Hillcrest Elementary School and Rolling Hills Elementary School will not be open as scheduled, Council Rock School District officials announced Tuesday evening.

The district already delayed the start of school due to road closures and power outages as a result of the storm. The first day was pushed back from Monday to Tuesday. But the lack of restored power at Wrightstown, Sol Feinstone and Rolling Hills has caused additional delays for students of those schools only.

"We expect power to be restored by the end of the day on Tuesday at each school.  However, should school be compromised at any of these schools by continued power outages, we will inform parents about the potential of a school closure," the district's website said. "Many of our families continue to be without power and, therefore, lack the ability to access our varied forms of communication.  Please help us to get out this message to families and friends in these school communities."

All other schools in the Council Rock School District will open on Tuesday for students in grades kindergarten through six, seven and nine, officials said.
