Upper Makefield resident Andy Block this week announced his candidacy for Council Rock School Board's Region 8.

Block has a spent 20 years in sales and operations across a range of companies.

Currently, Block runs the Eastern Region for Rodney Strong Family Wine Estates, a family owned Premium wine company based in Sonoma, California. Prior to this role, he worked for T-Mobile USA, where he was most recently responsible for North East Area Operations.

In his role as senior director of operations, he managed a cross-functional, executive leadership team in support of a multi-billion dollar business across 6.5 million wireless subscribers, 4,200 employees and 500 corporately owned retail locations, the press release said.

“I am well prepared to support the Council Rock School administration as they work to deliver the best possible educational experience to our kids and community in the face of rising costs and decreasing revenue streams," Block said.

"I will challenge the board to develop a range of options that will consistently support improved education through technology, motivated teachers and best in class facilities. I am committed to holding the line on taxes, which will mean having tough conversations in an open forum with positive intent," he said.

"I have a strong track record of success creating efficiencies to drive improved results both in the private and public sectors and look forward to working collaboratively with multiple interests in support of common CRSD goals," he added.

Anagnostakos said he supports Block.

"I am confident that Andy Block’s business acumen and dedication to excellent public education, while being fiscally conservative, will bring that and more to our school district.  His experience and caring personality are essential for Council Rock.  He has concern for the entire community and the skills needed to make Council Rock even more successful,” Anagnostakos said.
