Eagles to Hold Youth Football Camp in Newtown

The camp will be held from July 11 through July 15 at Newtown Friends School.

Got a future football star on your hands? Then let him play with the pros this summer.

Philadelphia Eagles Youth Football camp will be held July 11 through July 15 at Newtown Friends School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The five-day non-contact youth football camp is for kids ages 6 to 14.

According to camp Enrollment Director Joe D'Amato, former players – or “Eagles heroes” -- attend camp to aid in instruction and support coaches. Heroes appear at various times throughout camp operations

“These are former players who are now fathers and family men who come out to camp and help us coach the players,” he said. This year’s heroes include Fred Barnett, Garry Cobb, Ben Hawkins, Frank LeMaster and Vince Papale, among others. For a full list, click here.

The camp in Newtown is one of 13 being offered in the area and will provide football instruction, athletic skill development, fitness and agility training. “Players learn to run, throw, catch, defend and compete the Eagles Way,” D’Amato said.

An average day at Eagles camp begins with a warm-up, speed and agility training, offensive skills stations, and team play, D’Amato said. Then there’s a break inside for lunch. After lunch, there will be indoor activities, including interactive football games, video sessions, and educational components on the importance of eating right and staying hydrated.

Afternoons feature defensive skills stations, seven on seven tournaments, and reinforcements before the final whistle, D’Amato explained.

Kids will have the chance to meet former players and get autographs. Other highlights of the week include team competitions, which lead to a mock Super Bowl. There are also individual competitions and two campers win an Eagles helmet at every camp. The week culminates with awards, D’Amato said.

“Eagles Camp is truly the best week of the summer. Newcomers to the game leave with a better appreciation. Experienced players leave better players,” D’Amato said.

The camp is $339. Early registration discounts are available.  Register today and get $25 off with the online coupon code “Playfootball25”.
