Jog 'n Hog Registration Opens Sunday

The annual Jog 'n Hog, set for July 21, involves running about a mile and a half, eat either a quart or a pint of ice cream and then running back to the starting line.

In celebration of National Ice Cream Day, Shady Brook Farm is hosting the second annual Uncle Dave’s Ice Cream Jog 'n Hog on July 21. Registration opens Sunday at a special price that will be available for 24-hours only.

The festivities will kick off at 8:30 a.m. at Shady Brook Farm. Runners will jog about a mile and a half, stop and eat either a quart or a pint of Uncle Dave’s ice cream and then run back to the starting line.

According to race organizers, there are several new features for this year’s Ice Cream Jog ‘n Hog, including the introduction of two divisions.

“The gastrointestinally brave can register in the Whole Hogger Division, which involves eating a quart of ice cream at the race’s halfway point. Those who are less confident in their eating ability can register in the Half Hogger Division, which involves eating a pint of ice cream,” according to a press release.

In addition, racers who form teams of 10 or more people will each receive a $5 refund off their registration one to two weeks after the race. Teams are limited to 20 people.

Race registration opens Sunday at a special, 24-hour-only price of $25 for Whole Hoggers and $22 for Half Hoggers. Deadlines and prices after that date are as follows:  After that and through April 30, registration is $30 for the whole hogger and $27 for the half hogger. From May 1 to June 30, it’s $35 and $32 and from July 1 to 16 it is $40 and $37.

Registration for the Uncle Dave’s Ice Cream Jog ‘n Hog closes at midnight July 16.
