Race for Resources on Saturday

Head to Tyler Park for the second Race for Resources and Autism Expo on Saturday, Nov. 12.

On Saturday, thousands of runners are expected to participate in the Autism Cares Foundation's at .

The event features a 10K and 5K run and a two-mile walk through the park, starting at The Earth Center For The Arts (10 Stable Mill Trail, Richboro, PA 18954). Additionally, a free Autism Expo with more than 50 organizations will take place.

The foundation is a non-profit organization that provides children, young adults and families with opportunities for life-skills development and social interaction. Proceeds from the race goes towards the foundation's long-term goal of opening the Autism Cares Foundation Resources Center. The center would be a place where autistic children and young adults can live and thrive when their family members can no longer take care of them, according to the organization's website.

Last year, the foundation raised just less than $100,000 through the Race for Resources. As of Thursday evening, $95,104 has been raised through the 2011 race. Donations are still being accepted.

The community is invited to come support the runners, enjoy food and drinks and take part in activities for children (moon bounce, face painting, etc.) while learning more about autism.
