Registration Open For Halloween-Themed 5 Mile Race

The Trick or Treat 5 Miler is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Oct. 30 at Tyler Park.

Pumpkins, Halloween and costumes may seem like a long way off, but registration is now open for the Second Annual Trick or Treat 5 Miler.

The five-mile race is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Oct. 30 at Tyler Park.

Organizers said last year there were 100 runners.  This year, they’d like to get 300 racers.

All runners are encouraged to dress up in costume. While costumes are not required, race organizer David Feinman said at last year’s inaugural race, runners came up with some pretty creative ones.

Feinman suggests that costumes be comfortable and obviously conducive to running. “Just something that’s easy to run in that you don’t mind moving around in,” he said, adding last year someone was dressed up in a skirt.

All race participants will be given long-sleeve race shirts and die-cast finishers medals.

Awards are given out for best costume and best race times. The race is timed using disposable tags embedded on the back of each runner's bib.

The Trick or Treat 5 Miler is organized by the same group who does the Bucks County Half Marathon, which is held each year in April at Tyler Park.

“It’s a friendly race. It’s like our half marathon; it has a big-town race feel,” Feinman said.

Online registration is now open at www.trickortreat5miler.com. Registration is $35 until Sept.1. It’s $40 from Sept. 15 to 27, and $45 on race day.
