Don't Forget: First Fourth is Saturday

The annual Independence Day celebration features a parade, fireworks, a block party and more.

Newtown's First Fourth celebration will be held this Saturday. Festivities include a parade, block party, fireworks and more.

Registration for the bike decorating contest begins at 2 p.m at Newtown Commons West (across from Newtown Walk.) Bike judging and prizes will take place at 2:30 p.m. Children 3 and up can participate in the bike decorating contest. .

The parade will kick off at 3 p.m. at the Newtown Business Commons. It will head north on Newtown Yardley Road, making a left turn on South Elm and a right turn on Center Avenue. From there, it will proceed to Sycamore Street and go right, ending at

The route is approximately one mile, according to organizers.

A block party begins at 6 p.m. at . It will feature food, vendors and activities. When it gets dark, about 9 p.m., a fireworks show will cap off the evening.

All parking for fireworks and activities will be at . From there, attendees can walk down Green Road, which will be closed to traffic. There will also be a shuttle.

Handicapped parking will be available at the middle school. The rain date for the event is Sunday, July 8.
