First Fourth Committee Seeking Parade Participants

Organizers of Newtown's annual Independence Day festivities are seeking parade participants for the July 7 event.

Organizers of First Fourth, Newtown's annual Independence Day festivities, are seeking participants for the parade. This year's event will be held on July 7.

First Fourth, which is held the first Saturday after the July 4 holiday, features a parade in Newtown, a baseball game between township and borough employees and a Colonial Encampment re-enactment. There are other activities for kids and families at the block party held at the Newtown Middle School, which culminates with the fireworks in the evening.

First Fourth Committee member Paul Salvatore said organizers are seeking anyone who's interested in participating in the parade -- whether it's a community group, antique car owner or scout troop.
