Watch the Supermoon Monday

Look to the skies Monday night to catch a glimpse of a supermoon.

A slightly less "super" but no less spectacular supermoon will brighten the skies Monday night, just a month after the last supermoon.

There is a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms Monday evening, which could obscure the view of a large, bright moon.

A "supermoon" is defined as being a new or full moon that occurring at or near its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit, according to EarthSky.com.

July's occurrence will actually be the third "supermoon" of the year. Although technically this month's display is a "perigee full moon," everyone other than pedantic astrologers will be calling it a "supermoon," thanks to to a generous definition coined in recent decades by an astrologer.
