Speed Limits Reduced on Several Area Highways

Speed limits on some highways have been reduced to 45 mph due to the snow.

Due to the snow, PennDOT announced Tuesday it is temporarily reducing the speed limit on several area highways.

Speed limits have been reduced to 45 mph on the following highways: Interstates 76, 95, 476, 676 and U.S. Routes 1, 30, 202, 422.In an announcement, PennDOT said it  was "urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel."

"Although PennDOT crews are treating roadways, the department’s primary goal is to keep roads passable, not completely free of ice and snow. PennDOT will continue to treat roadways throughout the storm until precipitation stops and roads are clear," the announcement said.
